This short and moderate trail is a classic hike at Zion National Park. The drive to the Canyon Overlook Trail starting point will take you through the famous Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel, a 1.1 mile (1.7 km) tunnel cut through a mountain of solid rock.
Canyon Overlook Trail begins with a view peering down into Pine Creek Slot Canyon, a popular canyoneering route. Along the way you’ll be treated to great views and fun hiking as you make your way to the overlook. The trail ends at a cliff edge providing a gorgeous view of lower Zion Canyon including the Beehive, West Temple, East Temple, Towers of the Virgin, and the Streaked Wall. Historically, this trial has been known as the “Great Arch Trail” due to the Great Arch being directly below, but out of sight, from the Canyon Overlook viewpoint.
