The Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park is true to its name because of its location on top of a massive rock mesa formation where you’ll find yourself isolated in an ocean of expansive views of the Canyonlands overlooks. Notable overlooks such as Grand View Overlook, Shafer Canyon Overlook, Orange Cliffs Overlook and others have distinct viewpoints of Canyonlands National Park. The Island in the Sky district has an elevation over 6000 feet (1,800 m) and peers down into canyons and rivers 1000 to 2000 feet (300-600 m) below. Each viewpoint is only a short walk from the parking areas. Take your camera, tripod, and your time while visiting these magnificent overlooks.
